Let's talk about the first edition of "What Inspires Me" - a brief post about something that truly makes me want to do something. These posts generally will be related to something in the Marketing & Design Industries, but hey - Food inspires me too!!
The Scarecrow - Digital Ad from Chipotle
A Little Background
So, a few of my followers know that recently many of the women in my family were diagnosed with a genetic disorder - crazy right? Well, no worries over here, BUT it does make eating complicated. Stay away from gluten, eat organic/antibiotic free/free range everything - just about anything you used to eat has to be substituted. And forget eating out - except for good ol' CHIPOTLE! Chipotle has long been priding themselves with organic ingredients! Even better - they tell me when their chicken ran out and they had to source from other farmers who may not be FDA certified organic, but still promise the fair treatment of the harvest animals. #awesome #waytogochipotle
Why This Inspires Me
With such restricted dieting, I've found that my one cheat meal can actually still fall into those guidelines - and it's almost always Chipotle! I can get a burrito bowl with chicken, light rice, salsas and just overall yumminess - and I still don't have to question if it's antibiotic free or organic. This is a HUGE win for me! This ad also is close to my heart because I'm a big push-over most days - I see a puppy and start getting weepy. This ad takes it to the next level. It's great because it's such an effective ad that it makes you excited to try this Scarecrow's burrito from his little store front.
Why This Is So Effective
This ad uses the power of emotion to tell a story - the story of a local farmer who sees the terrors of the food industry and it's impact on society and how we live our lives. The terrible truth is that most meat [poultry, pork, you name it] is harvested in such inhumane ways it makes me sick. Animals, locked in small containers with 10 other animals, being force fed genetically altered grains and antibiotics we wouldn't even take. Then they're harvested in mass, packaged, processed, bleached, and ends up on a plate in our homes. And you learn all of this in a 3 minute video - and it makes you feel for that Scarecrow! Don't you just want to hug him? The effectiveness of story telling through imagery has long since been how I do my job. I love what I do, and do what I love. Seeing ads like this that are POSITIVELY impacting the world is how I do what I love so passionately.
What do you think? You want Chipotle now, too, don't you.
